    Fresh water problem

Have not seen one, but have not looked very hard. Is it like a strainer for a faucet? If so, it would be inside the hose fitting correct?

    Fresh water problem

I am having a problem with the fresh water not pumping unless the tank is completely full. I think it is losing prime and had always been hard to get it primed, it seems that the tank is lower than the pump. If I fill it all the way with some extra pressure from the garden hose, it will work...

Need new Tach on '99 Sailfish Yam 225 OX66

I am in the same boat. I replaced one Tach about two years ago and now the other one is going bad. I am having trouble finding a match now and hate to replace an almost new tach to make them match. My tachs have the three colored icons on the lower left of the display. Been watching ebay, and...

    hard steering

I have always thought my steering was too hard as well. I have bleed the system with no change. All the greese points are greesed regularly. But I do have autopilot. I am interested in finding out if bleeding needs to be done differently for an autopilot system. I even busted a vessel in my...

    272/282 Sailfish with A/C

I believe it is a factory install. I bought it used. They used a portion of the berth and made a panel that blocks off the starboard side of the berth. My pump is in the stern. And the vent duct passes through the head under the sink counter to the forward berth. Let me know if you have any...

    272/282 Sailfish with A/C

My ac is mounted in the rear berth under the helm. The intake is in the panel that was created to hide the unit. One vent is behind rear berth forward facing, the other just under sink in the head compartment, facing forward to forward berth Pump and strainer are near the bait well pump, mine...

More VST tips and DIY humor

I recently did one of mine and had nothing on the screen, however I did have a lot of rust sediment in the bottom of the tank from the fuel pump that was rusting. I guess the rust was heavy enough to avoid being picked up by the suction. I see new fuel pumps in my future. Could be another reason...

    Autopilot control

Thanks for all the help! I am going to try and reset it first. Then see about repairing. I was going to order a st6002 off Ebay, but was unaware that it needs a corepack. Glad I posted here

    Autopilot control

I have a Raytheon st5000+ autopilot and the control head is bad. I tested the voltage coming out and not getting anything, with 13 volts going in. The motor works and the reference unit is reading ok. I am getting a low battery warning after a few seconds and the unit is not even disengaging...

    VST - Maintenance??

I just checked one of my engines last month, I have had the boat four years and never serviced it. The filter was spotless but there was a lot of rust on the fuel pump that was beginning to fall in the bottom of the VST tank. I think I'll just drain the other one.

    LEE jr outriggers

I have the exact same problem also from a previous owner. I have tried liquid wrench, beating with rubber mallet, a little heat and strap wrenches. Nothing seems to work. I have finally decided to store and transport full length both of which are a pain. Maybe someone here will have a solution.

    Count your blessings

The water rose about 8 feet over the top of the dock. All the boats that were not secured and low enough to float did. The wind pushed them around and over the docks. The tall boats hit the roof and crushed the hardtops and tuna towers. They were raised as much as possible in most cases. Some...

    Count your blessings

The Galveston Yacht Basin has a few different storage means. Dry stack and covered sling are the most popular. I have the covered sling and love it. Always in the shade and no bottom paint are my two favorite advantages. Too many people left their boats, some made it, if they were not too tall...

    Count your blessings

I keep my boat there and got it out at midnight two days before Ike hit. Even made a separate trip for the golf cart. While we were there we saw so many boats left behind I felt like maybe I was being too paranoid. I considered leaving it to ride it out like everybody else, but we had the place...

WATER HOOK UP FOR BOATS ON A LIFT?

My Sailfish has this as a T with a separate valve to close it off. I have a hose hookup too, that is built in near the fresh water fill. This makes it easy to flush as well.
