    2003 282 Transom issues

Grady uses Green Wood XL in the transom. It has a warranty through Grady. It won't rot but can still water log just like a poorly sealed composite transom.

Good Bye to the Grady Family

I understand completely. Sold my Marlin a few years back when my kids were born and bought a 225 Tournament. Take a look at a 225 with the full enclosure package. It truly is the SUV of boats. I fish offshore 20-25 miles in it in the am and cruise the bay in the afternoons with the wife/kids. It...

    repetitive fuel clogging issues

Are you running Ethanol fuel? E10? If so have you checked your fuel supply lines to see if they are E10 compliant? Older non ethanol lines will degrade and allow small bits of the line into your fuel system.

    Boat Lift Info?

I have a Golden Elevator lift for my 225 Tournament. It works really well and it was the best money I have spent on boating. The unit has the auto stop feature and a remote. Cost me about $10K but that included lift, permitting, and installation. The Golden has all SS hardware.

    ski Pylon, who has one?

My 225 has one but it is on the rear of the transom with no issues on rubbing the cowl. Not sure what you could do to get the ski pylon a tad higher to keep it from rubbing but as said I would be surprised if Grady allowed a factory install to rub the cowl. I would call the factory.

Yamaha F250B vs new gen F250 off shore

Depends on the $. The F250B is a tried and true performer with a long track record of reliable performance. The new F250 is lighter and may be a tad stronger due to it being a 4.2L block. It boils down to how much $ you will save. Both are great motors and you can't go wrong either way. Tough call.

    2011 GW 225 Motor Question

F250 is actually 265HP at the prop at 5500 RPMs. The old F200 is a dog. The new Yamaha 4.2L weighs less than the prior F series motors. I think the new 4.2L 300 is actually 15lbs lighter than my F250. Get them to at least get you a 250 but it would be sweet to have that new 300. 8)...

    2011 GW 225 Motor Question

Is the motor a 2011? Yamaha came out with a new 4.2L offshore motor last year and there was not a 200 HP in the lineup. There were the new 225, 250, and V6 300. If it is the old F200 I would say that you will be a bit disappointed how it performs on that hull. Get the 250 is possible or the 300...

    GW 225 Offshore?

I routinely bottom fish out 25 miles in the Gulf. The problem is the wave period and 4' waves stacked would not be comfortable in this boat. I don't go out in anything over 2' to 3' forecast and prefer 1' to 2'. That being said there are not many 22' boats that can fish and run in what this boat...

BOAT LIFT FOR A 22-8 will 4000lbs work

I just had a 7000# Golden Elevator Lift installed for my 225 Tournament. I will report back on how it works out. My boat is close to 5K lbs with everything. I think you will be too light with that size lift.

    Cracked Hull - 28 Release

That chunk missing out of the side of the hull above the water line looks like impact damage.

I went to the boat show, Holy Cow!

Don't buy new if you can find a lightly used boat for half the money. Keep looking and find something with warranty left on the engine. There are good deals out there on used stuff you just have to be patient. More boats will pop up as spring nears. New boat pricing is insane and does not make...

    Considering Tournament 225

The 225 will out ride that 205. You will end up with a 225 if you ride in one. You are going to love that boat. 8)

    Considering Tournament 225

It is a Grady installed Ski pylon. To answer the question on the 205. I never considered it as it was too small for my needs. I did not like the transom design either. I just really like the 225 bracket set up. Makes the boat feel much bigger than 22'2". It is truly the SUV of boats and I don't...

    Considering Tournament 225

You can't go wrong with either. I have the 225 Tournament and love it. We fish offshore 20-25 miles. It handles up to 3' seas with no problem. Anymore than that and I can't handle long runs. We bottom fish most of the time. The livewell and fishbox are both large and I like them in the transom...
