Looking for Real World 282 Sailfish Performance #s

2005 282 with F225's. Just over 1200 hours in the Pacific NW over last 5 summers. Most trips are with 5 people, average of 350 lbs ice, running into a 3-4 foot swell, and 5-10 knots of wind. Fuel burn is 1.22 nmpg based on all condition average. Flat and glassy could be 1.4nm or slightly...

    Roller vs. Bunk Trailer

I'd probably be just fine with the 10k if it was just for a few times a year to tow back and forth from a house. As for a heavier load trailer being bigger- that should make no difference. The next step up I-beam trailers go with larger I-beams, not a longer trailer. If someone is informing...

    Roller vs. Bunk Trailer

I'm on my 2nd Sailfish. First was a 252G and now a 282. I tow extensively. All aluminium I beams trailers are basically the same with the exception of being either single or double bent. Venture trailers are a single bend, with slightly more expensive trailers being double bent. Mine have...

    marlin vs. sailfish

I a on my second Sailfish. First was a 252, and now a 282. I debated whether I should move up to a Marlin, or stay with the Sailfish, and ended up very happily with the 282. The questions you need to ask are: Is the boat going to be moored full time, or do you plan on trailering the boat...

Flush mount Garmin 4212 in overhead Radio Box

Here's a winter update I did to add a 2nd 12" screen on my 2005 282. I really don't care to have single source electronics since if the head unit of the MFD goes out you end up losing all your electronics. This winter I decided to add a 4212 to my 5212 so that I had full network and...

    Companion Seat in Sailfish

Tell them that I'd be happy to swap. I have captain chair in my 2005 282 and would love to swap for a companion seat. I have 3 friends with companion seats and much prefer that setup.

    Helm Chair

I have a Pompanette Grady chair on my port side that I will be getting rid of as soon as I find the companion seat or have one made. It is off a 2005 GW 282.

Grady 282 bought through Great Grady, and a thank you

BobP- I think you might appreciate the boat that I sold just before purchasing this one.. A 1992 252G repowered with 2006 Yami HPDI's.. Great boat. The first Sea-J.

    Repowering question

I've seen it done... had another owner that did it with Yami F150's. I had a 252G with 200's and wouldn't have ever consider repowering with 25% less power. Stick with the 200's. There's a reason that pretty much every Sailfish has 200's or 225's (and now 250's).

Grady 282 bought through Great Grady, and a thank you

Wow- Here's a boat update for everyone.... Been a little too long.... From a Michigan cruise boat, to what she was made for....fishing! Great first year for the Sea-J out on the NW Pacific. Fished great all season long. Hundreds of tuna came aboard, and managed to get Big Fish for the final...

Sailfish in tight 3 to 5 foot seas

I would counter with this... I have been a licensed 100 Ton Master Captain for more than 20 years. My original sea time was 100% generated in the NW Pacific Ocean off of Oregon where I was raised working on commercial and charter fishing vessels. Further sea time and running of charter...

Leak in haed by starboard side window

Wow, great question. I was just looking to see if anyone had a similar issue. I am having water leak into the head on the starboard side, and leaking onto the port side of the V berth.. Water does not appear to be coming from the windows, and the port side appears to be forward of the window...

    2007 282 with F250s performance

WOT range is 5000-6000. That being said, you want your WOT range with your fully loaded boat to preferably be over 5500 RPM. Light load, you should be able to hit 6000-6100 RPM's. Your buddy is right about the engine sound being normal. In awhile you will be able to hear 3 different...

    dual engine w/ 4 batteries

If you only have 2 switches then you are always going to have the chance of some issues. A better way to do it is to get rid of the 1/both/2 switches and wire it with an individual switch for each engine, a switch for the house bank, and then a crossover emergency switch for the engines. Add...

    Yamaha F225 Problems?

I posted this over on THT and there is a corrosion thread over there that you should review. The problem as it is right now is that unless you have to really get all the way up inside the exhaust to see if there is an issue. Taking the lower unit off and using a flashlight to just look up...
