trailer and tow vehicle for 272 sailfish

I pull the same boat with a Chev 2550 HD with the Duramax without much issue, but I dont think I would want anything lighter. As a FYI I did upgraded my hitch as the OEM hitch from Chevy was not much. SBLGFD

    Rewire spreader lights

Just ordered a pair of LED spreader lights (www.coastalnightlights.com/) and would like to consider pulling all new wire to feed them as opposed to a splice. Anyone ever try and pull new wires through the hard top tubes? Suggestions and or ideas? Boat is a 1996 Sailfish 272 Thanks Chris

    Value of Swaping OB Engine

Not quite the same situation but I repowered my 96 – 272 Sailfish with a pair of 2010 225’s and could not be happier with them. Dealer is another issue so spend some time and ask lots of questions, but the Etec’s are great.

    Evinrude E-Tec any opions ?

I did additional comparison shopping - the prices posted are the lowest I could find for the specific brand within a reasonable distance (300 miles). Got a total of three Etec , Two Yamaha and two Merc prices . Two of the BRP prices came from fairly large dealers - they say rated #5 and #6 in...

    4 strokes on older sailfish

Went thru the same thing - went with Etecs- if you decide not to repower I have a good running 96 Ocenan Pro 200 with a newly rebuilt ( June of this year) lower unit as wellas a spare for parts . Running engine is standard rotation, parts unit is counter rotation. I will make you a deal on the...

    Evinrude E-Tec any opions ?

As a FYI and in the interest of a informed discussion here are my prices - all were for the same amount of work. I removed my old engines, rigging, wires and gauges. New units included dual control binnacle and all new digital gauge package, Etec dealer in the end also threw in a spare set of...

    Evinrude E-Tec any opions ?

I will chime in here. We just got our 96 Grady 272 back with a pair of 2010 225 HP Etec’s and could not be happier. Clean, quiet and more efficient than the old Ocean Pro’s During the process of the repowering we looked at Mercury Opti-max , Yamaha 4 strokes, Yamaha 2 strokes and the Etecs...

    Etecs on a sailfish

Looked at both . If I stay with a Etec I can use my existing gauges and controls. Also I have been told my bolt holes wil line up. Spoke with Grady and they said typacally a 4 stroke will require the scuppers to be moved up due to the weight. Not really wanting to do any fiberglass work. SBLGFD

    Etecs on a sailfish

Wondering if anyone has repowered there sailfish with Etecs and what the results were. I have a 96 272 and we are now considering a pair of 225 Etecs. Thoughts? Thanks SBLGFD
