    Plugging Transom Screw Holes

Once you decide what to fill the holes with, I would encourage you to do final finsishing with gel coat. I bought the super expensive jar of Grady gel that was color graded by year of manufacture, and I will tell you I had excellent results and trust me it was very easy to get a factory finish...

    Great Results w/ Grady Gelcoat

I have always hesitated to fill in a couple of cosmetic dings on the topsides of my 208, figuring I would just make it worse. Recently, I had an incident with an unfamiliar dock that left the corner where the topside and the transom meet with a good sized snake bite down to the darker...

how much gas in my tank ?

I have an Adventure 208 and my gauge indicates 10 bars at 8 gallons per bar. I believe my tank will hold 84 gallons, but I may have just overfilled it once upon a time. For what its worth, in my neck of the woods (New Hampshire) my mechanic always has me leave the boat with half a tank over the...

Bad Day On Water Now Need Advice

Tucker, I should have some info on what went wrong this week. The head was ordered Monday and other parts were called for. Mechanic Dave will have it in the shed and is going to have me on the water by next weekend. Wish me luck. langski

Bad Day On Water Now Need Advice

Since there were many of you who offered up some good advice or issues I should consider, I thought I would give everyone an update. After speaking to a Grady Dealer, who said the new lighter weight four strokes would be out over the winter, I decided to hang it up for the season and have my...

Bad Day On Water Now Need Advice

Hi Tucker, You bring up an issue that I have had in the back of my mind as this motor was well maintained with preseason prep and then monitored during the season. Oil tanks have been drained completely and cleaned twice in the past 5 years, but I don't know what could have gone wrong further...

Bad Day On Water Now Need Advice

Thanks for replies everyone. I have been travelling for business this past week, but I need to make a decision very shortly if I hope to salvage the last part of the season. I will let you know which route I take. There may be a hull for sale shortly, if you know of anyone with interest, tell...

Bad Day On Water Now Need Advice

Thanks for your reply Parthery. Your quote for the new power head is about right, maybe on the lower side around here. What would a new 200 HPDI do for me instead of a new OX66 or a four stroke? I understand a weight advantage over the four stroke but what would it do over the OX 66 original...

Bad Day On Water Now Need Advice

I am the second owner of a 1999 Adventure 208, very good shape, nice and clean, never painted and always maintained. Despite that, my 1999 fuel injected OX66 200 hp Yammie blew up yesterday. I was in the mouth of the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth, NH and dead in the water. If you know the...

Repair on Small Holes & Crack Bonus Rant

Thanks Pay2Play. I will try that mix on one of the small holes. When you drilled it out, I take it you went just wider and not deeper? langski93

Repair on Small Holes & Crack Bonus Rant

I have a 1999 Adventure 208 that was well cared for by the first owner and I got it about 5 years ago. There are two old transducers and several miscellaneous wires on the transom, which I would like to remove then repair the transom. There is also a small crack at the base of the small cabinet...

    Cape Cod Boat Launch

I have never boated off Cape Cod, but I might go down to West Yarmouth to visit friends this week. They are not boaters, but I thought they might enjoy a day out on the water. Can anyone recommend a good all tides launch, public or private that I could launch my Adventure 208? In or very close...

Result of Yea or Nay on Removing Old Gas

Once again thanks to all who replied to my post about the 2 year old gas. This morning, I removed about 35 gallons of fuel after removing the fuel sending unit and using the coat hanger method of directing the siphon hose. I drained until I was getting too much air and eventually the siphon...

Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas

More On Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas Keep working with me here guys. This is all good. Aa331, all has been done except the tank cleaning. If I do drain the tank how do I "clean" it? Has anyone had experience removing the sending unit. Grady dealer service desk told me it was easy. Said I...

Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas

Thanks for replies. The motor is a Yam 200 hp 1999 OX66. The gas was stabilized. Does it make a difference on gas that old? Langski93

Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas

45 gallons of 2 year old gasoline in my 85 gallon capacity Adventure 208 tank. Do I top off and run it out or syphon and start fresh? I appreciate any and all feedback. langski93

Dual Axle Rear Wheels Not Touching

Thanks for all replies. I reversed my drop 3" and it was too high for the elevator to lift the receiver over the ball. I then put a drop 2" reversed and it pretty much dialed it in. All wheels touch and elevator has capacity to get receiver over the ball. langski93

Dual Axle Rear Wheels Not Touching

I just put a new OEM axle on the front of my EZ Loader, and replaced the rear hubs on the rear axle. Even installed a homemade flush system to the new brakes. Now going to tow with my new Toyota Tundra and go pick up my boat later this week. The trailer is riding with rear wheels off the ground...

Rebuild Trailer with Upgrade or Buy New?

I have a Adventure 208. Any opinions on whether I should buy a new trailer or have my 1999 EZ Loader upgraded to SS Disc Brakes and then also have my rollers and hardware changed out. The surge activated drum brakes are shot as are the rollers. My mechanic ballparked the cost of the new disc...
