Fuel Tank Cleaning 2006 360 Express

Check the o-rings on your fuel filler caps, and make sure they're lightly lubricated and in good condition . . . It's my job on this site to remind people that the most often way water gets in the tank is the same way fuel got into the tank.

    Head Zincs

Remember, that if you haven't checked or know, you should have another 4 slender anodes in the updated thermostat housings (might be 2006 year feature . . . ), which is significantly more difficult, but worth it if you're in salt water with a limited ability to flush when the engine is fully up...

New Grady Owner Intro and Questions?

Replace and lightly grease the O-ring on the fuel cap, and keep a spare on-board, make sure you look at it and inspect each time you fuel up. Easily the best and primary way to keep water out of your fuel tank(s).

    Sea Dek

So, first a disclaimer; our hull was an unmodified 2002 282 Sailfish. These drawings may or may not fit any other year 282 prior to or after, and might not meet your expectations. But we did enjoy it thoroughly while we still had the boat, which has since sold. Just wanted to memorialize this...

New arm rest pads from Pompanette?

I was stone cold set on making a teak or mahogany or cherry hardwood covers for the hard plastic base that lives under the horrible rubber covers . . . but then I sold my boat.

    Replace or Brush and Use?

Cost of anodes . . . Cost of new tab(s) . . . Cost of repair or replace trim/tilt . . . These are the really easy ones to do . . . recommend replacing each season so that at a minimum you have fresh metal to metal surface contact between the anode and the bracket. I'd do the 8 in the...

    Fuel economy query....282 Sailfish...

Yeah, in a moderate sea-state, 1.6 isn't bad. Our '02 282 with F225 definitely required dead flat conditions, clean bottom, and trimmed out to 3.5 - 4 bars of trim to see 1.8-1.9 with 15 1/4 x 19 SWII, so with lump and long distance it's certainly not averaging 1.8 mpg. Just check your WOT in...

Expert advice needed for a Fuel Delivery issue?

I am also not an expert . . . I wouldn't have even thought of scraping and refinishing. The stainless steel versions of the filter housings were just too nice looking for me to pass up!

Expert advice needed for a Fuel Delivery issue?

Check the bottom surfaces of your mounted 10 micron fuel/water filters with a photo. If they look like this, it's really easy for them to have an air leak, even if you feel like you've screwed the filters on tight. The corrosion makes it difficult to gain an adequate seal. I also had this...

Moka pot on our 282 stove is fine provided it's not lumpy.

    282 Sailfish Thru-Hull Transducer Help

This is where my 20 degree B164 is located on a 2002 282 Sailfish, once your settings are dialed in you should have good results. I hold bottom to several hundred feet at least (haven't gone further than that yet) at 30+ knots of boat speed.

    Replacement Batteries 272 Sailfish

While it's a few years off they didn't change too much in the back of the bus moving from 1998 272 to a 2002 282, we had the same dilemma in 2015. Fitting battery trays long ways, lengthwise, 3 group 27 batteries fit (snuggly) behind the tackle bin. You should check fit these, as you'll need...

    Tilt hydraulics leaking - Fix

So I had this same leak at the end of the 2017 season. All year we had been fine on the mooring, and then at the last week in the water I started being "that boat" with the big shimmer of trim-tilt hydraulic fluid magically appearing in the water at the transom. Since we had replaced the...

    Sea Dek

So I wanted to just revisit this topic over 2 years later. Elizabeth and I are still logging over 150hrs per season on the 282, and we have a variety of activities and outings on the boat, from fishing in the rain to fun with friends in the sun. I have dedicated at least 1 solid scrubbing of...

    Tips for Using Twins

I think the thing I'd add is that it's almost just as important to fully understand what your boat is naturally going to want to do in a given set of current/wind conditions, in the absence of throttle inputs. Does your boat want to drift beam to wind, bow to wind, or stern to wind? How...

So my experience isn't in the helm or cockpit area, but we did the three stairs and full down below on a 282 Sailfish http://www.greatgrady.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=24030&start=0&hilit=seadek Although I'd recommend cleaning more often than I did (like once in a two year period), a once...

    chesapeake 290

Our 2002 282 Sailfish burn with F225 four strokes, clean bottom, light to moderate load, will cruise at 26 knots, 14-15gph, so better than 1.5mpg (typically we bump around the bay at 1.6-1.7mpg) up to about 30 knots. I've never actually seen more than 2mpg sustained, and that's intermittent...

Passenger cockpit panel speaker wire routing

282 Sailfish, Marlin, Chesapeake, 270 owners . . . How is the wire routed to the speaker in the port helm area cockpit panel? I have a 282 Sailfish that never had speakers installed in the helm area, and now that I have a pair, I can't figure out how I'm getting from the helm/dash to the port...

    Screw Trim Caps & Bases...

Nah FishTales I'm with you, I have an older boat and I avoid the boat dealership almost as religiously as I do with my car . . . but for items that are either really hull specific or color sensitive, that's when I give the dealership a call (at least a chance to quote a price . . .)

    Screw Trim Caps & Bases...

I just ordered these through a local Grady White dealer in new england. Got 24 caps and bases in the grady white color for a little less than $14 including "shipping" which is really an envelope because they're such small lightweight parts. For that price it's easier to contact your closest...
