Bob, I've owned and run the same boat for 10 years. What do you need to know? John

    Cost of factory installed hardtop

Plus if you go aftermarket you can work with the manufacturer to design it just the way you want.

feeding wire from stern to fuse panel (272 sailfish)

I use a 10' length 1/4" pvc tube. Stiff enough to push through, flexible enough to go around the curves. Works great.

    lower unit oil

If you're not already, use the pump with threaded fitting on fill hose to refill from the bottom. Much easier, neater and allows you to tell more accurately when the LU is full when clear lube runs out the top hole.

How much fuel should I be using?

You're right on with fuel and oil consumption. I run a NAVMAN fuel consumption guage on my '81 22 Bimini w/200 HPDI and get between 1.8 and 2.2 NM/Gal, depending on load, sea conditions, wind, etc. 50:1 oil use is good, too. Love my NAVMAN.

    bow eye and cleat ??

I paid only $15 for the parts. That's why I said FORTUNATELY I found used! Actually I think there were some other similar parts in the bin where I found mine. I'd try to grab and ship them if that's what you end up needing. I'll give the pics a shot first.

    bow eye and cleat ??

Just replaced this assembly on my '81 220 Bimini. You're correct, the bow tow eye is connected to the anchor horn via the 5/8" SS threaded rod. On mine, the piece that the rod threaded into on the inside of the bow eye was made of regular steel (not SS) and totally disintegrated. Fortunately...

    Motors for a 268 Islander

Absolute, If that's the boat you want, use the HP "problem" to negotiate for a lower purchase price, buy the boat, sell the F225s and put on whatever motors you want!

    Deck Sealant

3M 4000 or 4200. Seals as well and easier to clean/scrape off than silicone.

Who has installed the big 1-KW b-164thru hull on a seafarer

I did it. Actually on a 1981 220 Bimini which is the early version of the seafarer. In the bilge, starboard side, approx one foot forward of the transom. Works great holding bottom at up to 30kts hooked to my Furuno FCV585. Only problem is that I loose bottom in reverse due to the counter...

    furuno/airmar flush mount transducer thoughts

Jekyl, Didn't need anything else, the 585 is already set up for the 1KW...just need to select it on one of the menu screens. My boat's 22' w/single eng outboard. I mounted it in the bilge, starboard side, about 1 foot fwd of the transom. Only problem I have with this location is that it...

    Price on Re-Power

You might want to look for a used HPDI. See them on here and other sites once in a while. 2 years ago I repowered with a 5 year old one with 400 hours for less than half of what you're talking about. Very happy with it, so far.

    200 hpdi's oiling up?

Be sure they check and clean the fuel filter inside the VST tank directly under the fuel pump in there. That's the one I didn't know about last year when my 2000 200HPDI wouldn't run right.

    New Seafarer

I have an '81 Grady 220 Bimini (early version of the Seafarer) with a single 200 HPDI and take it offshore regularily out of Hatteras, Oregon Inlet and Virginia Beach. 25 to 40NM out are normal runs, but I've had it out to 60NM. Just like everybody's said a thousand times on here...keep a...

    furuno/airmar flush mount transducer thoughts

I installed the Airmar B164 1KW tilted element in my Grady. I run it with a Furuno FCV585. Works great and definately holds bottom at cruising speed (22-28 kts). Hardest part was drilling a 3.75" dia hole in my boat.

    2001 200Hp HPDI Hour Disparity

200 HPDI Take 'em to a shop, get a compression check and the printout off the computer, see what it says and go from there. That way you can start from a basis of fact and not speculation from folks who haven't seen the motors. Also ask the tech to give you an overall impression of their...

Four Stroke or HPDI Two Stroke?

I put a 200 HPDI on my old (open transom) 22 Grady two years ago. After about 350 hours and many trips in and offshore in all imaginable conditions...I feel that this is the perfect motor for my boat. I'd say find a used 200 HPDI, buy the service manual, learn how to change all the filters and...

    Fuel Tank Replacement

Curm, That's the way they were in my '81, screwed in from the other side. I also had to cut off a bit of "lip", but it was no problem. When you get your new tank made, keep in mind "standard dimensions". I saved a lot of money by reducing the length of my new tank from 62 to 60 inches...
