On my 01' 150 Merc o/b. When greaseing the midsection (where the engine pivots for steering) I can only get grease to come thru at small spots at upper and lower locations. Am thinking that I should see grease all around these points. Anybody know of a way to flush old caked up grease out of...

    Lower unit question

Kept the lower unit from the old engine (85 150 Black Max). Condition good as far as I know. Current engine is a 2001 repowered 150 Merc Saltwater. Any of you Merc guys know if this older lower unit would fit the newer engine. Visibly it looks very close but obviously there's more to it...

    Tab pump location

According to Bennett if I mount the pump in the forward cabin the reaction time will be slower because of the longer hyd. lines. Makes sense, question is how much slower and is it significant. Anybody done this?

Anybody with an older 5500 tracker found a way to get unit serviced? Display went dim, can only be read in low light. Northstar who bought Navman has a flat rate policy regarding repairs which means any repair starts at 300 bucks minimum. New units can be had online for under 500$ If...

    Ducer height question

Mounted my transducer so top of it was flush with bottom of the hull. Seems to be throwing an awful lot of water. Should the bottom of the ducer be flush with bottom of the boat. Will be making this adj. assuming that as long as it contacts the water it should work. Just looking for feedback...

    Older Overnighter Fuel Lines

Just a tip when replacing the fill hose, keep the hose as short as possible and do not allow any "dip" in the hose. Run it as direct to the tank as you can. Reason being, when your on the back of the boat in the water, bow is pointing up inhibiting flow to the tank. Any dip in the hose will only...

    Question about oil.

Need to know if oil that sits in an engine that goes unused/not run for as long as 2 years loses it's viscosity. Point of the question is my snowblower got an oil change in april 07. Did not need it at all in 08. Is that oil still good for 09? To the administrators: if you feel the need to...
