    Hurricane Harvey

I've been checking on the data buoys around Corpus Christi. Max recorded gust was 80 with sustained in the upper 60s. None of the buoys support the NHC wind estimates. Not a lot of tree damage showing on TV. Any one have an on ground report?

    272 Sailfish Pump

Misread your post, I thought you were referencing an external macerator for the holding tank. Remove the aft cabin floor and look for a place to mount the pump. You will need a thru hull fitting for the exit from the pump. There should be enough room to install the fitting above the waterline.

    Is My Windlass Motor Toast?

I suspect a wiring issue. Probably corroded connections in he harness. As current draw creates heat, the slow down is probably caused by excessive draw linked to corrosion.

Fuel vent line in 282 Sailfish?

My 272 had self venting fills no vent line. When the o ring fails the fills leak water into the tank. I replaced my fills with traditional fills and vent lines.

Ran out of gas, both engines will not start

Probably separators. Your primer bulb should be before the separators so that you can draw from the tank to the separator. Primers after the separator suck air for a long time. If the bulb is after, fill the canister with fuel before installing.

    East Coast Fl BOLO

News said that CG anchored the boat 67 nm off Ponce Inlet. How deep is that? 3,000 ft.? I was in the storm, on land, that caught them. Easy 50 mph winds and blinding rain. Probably swamped and turned turtle. Based on the time I would guess they weren't too far out and I hope they swam west. Time...

    Does Salt Away product work?

When replacing my Poppet Valves I used Salt Away to clean tubes & galleries with so-so results. A forum member suggested white vinegar which worked far better & much cheaper than Salt Away. I now flush my motors with white vinegar as well.

Grocco in tank macerator / Jabsco Conversion

I changed for ease of maintenance. A few holes at the top of the stringer are nothing to worry about. If bilge water gets that high there are other things to consider. What kind of soap are you using?

    cabin room 28 foot sailfish

I'm 6"1" and my wife is 5'6" We have a 272. A number of differences from the Marlin. The Marlin's extra length really shows up between the helm seats and in the cabin. The 272 bunks are narrower and the port bunk is shorter due to the galley. Even tho my wife is shorter than me we end up in a...

    Rope slipping of anchor wench

By new anchor line. Get a good quality like New England braid that is sized right for your winch. I tried all of the mentioned tricks without success. My line was stiff and wouldn't lay right in the rope locker, bunches up and doesn't give the incoming line the required free fall clearance...
