    1999 Sailfish 272 (2) serious issues.

They're OX-66's if you have water in the fuel, a little extra oil isn't going to hurt the 2 strokes.

BEST RIDING HULL BEYOND 232 SV2 HULL?

I have a Sailfish and drove a Gulfstream, It's better but not night and day. It's a noticeable difference but you still feel it when it's rough.

What props do you run Sailfish w/200's?

I'm running 19's but if I were to change I'd get 15 x 17's. She'll still hit 50 MPH at 5500 but the extra bite of the 15" diameter would be better.

    Realistic 272 Sailfish Review

The Sailfish is a decent amount more boat then the Islander. Unless you want to stay under the 8.5 beam, you give up a quite a bit. The Sailfish has the extra bunk (which is more for storage but at least that frees up the V), 1000 pounds of weight, and the extra beam is more space for the...

    New Jersey ICW

Never been much south of Barnegate inlet. When going out of BI, keep going out until the last marker, there are submerged rocks on the north side. Don't go off course as you go past the marshes by BI, VERY shallow water. Once you're past, the bay has decent water until you get to Mantaloking...

    Yamaha f200 4 stroke question

So far only good stories from the F200 4 cyl, none first hand but much better mileage than the HPDI's they had before. Well 1.5 to 2+ doesn't sound like much but it helps on canyon trips.

Aquasport 275 versus Grady White 272

The cockpit looks smaller on the 275 but you gain more in the cabin. I'm not sure who you're going to put in the top bunks, they're basically good for storage. On boats this size, you aren't going to want to go hang in the cabin, the extra space to me is a waste. I do like the storage for...

    whats it worth???

RUN! Repairs may look good but not hold up The sides may be cored, were they checked? Wiring is shot gremlins will be there FOREVER you can't afford this boat

What do you like and dislike about your Grady?

What I like, well you'd be pretty hard pressed to fit more into the Sailfish and still have the same excellent layout. Dislikes: I wish it had a little more deadrise The windshield is too low. The scuppers sat at or under the waterline (stock). Just an little more butt room for the head. The...

    New Yamaha 200 vs E-tech 200

This horse gets beaten every few months. With the latest info about the Yami 200's, if I do repower they'll be hanging off the back. The low end torque will always go to the 2 stroke but the cruise MPG goes to the Yami and when trolling it's no competition. Going from 1 MPG to 5 MPG when...

    Is this enough trailer?

You're going from a 7K to a 6K. If it's for short trips and storage you should be OK but if you want to actively use it, drop more coin. If you have a 7K trailer already why downsize?

1987 25ft sailfish fuel tank leaking

Search for manufacturers in your area, give them a coat of coal tar epoxy and they'll last a long time. Do the hoses too since they may be leaking too. The tanks are fairly easy, pop the hatches, empty the tanks, undo the hoses and pull'em out. The hoses may give you a challenge. While the...

    Motor Bracket Leaking?

Even if the bracket is full of water, it shouldn't effect the boat that much. It sounds like there is a leak in the bracket and a leak from one of the bolts going through the transom. Are there stains around one of the bolts? Even if the scuppers are under water, the deck should be above water.

Need advice- Repower 1993 246GT Explorer

If you aren't sure of the integrity of the transom or bracket, check those first. The bracket is probably OK (small pits are ok), areas of bare Aluminum and copper based bottom paint don't mix well. As far as weight, how does it sit with the current power?

4-Blade Props on Sailfish with OX66's

Seasick summed it up pretty good with the props. There's a lot of different factors to make one prop better then the others and shortcuts to overcome problems which in turn have drawbacks (thinner props have less drag but will bend easier). Just trying to understand the cup of a prop will make...

    sailfish power comparision

The '94 dolphin is rated to 450, I doubt they changed anything from '93 which was rated @400. The dolphin was a carryover but the sailfish went euro.

    Complete Rewire Time

If it's your first time well over 40 hours. You'll be opening up areas all over to find out how it's wired, run new wires, terminate, then test and hope you didn't #$#@ up. When you're done it will be a definite improvement but it sounds easier than it is.

    advice needed

I can only give some advise so... Start with '98 and newer Sailfish (full running bottom and no issues with 4 stroke weight). I think in '00 the Sailfish had a facelift and is more "wife friendly" and should be in your price range. AC is an option but you need a generator (you're used to that...
